Chicken Cake for My Daughter's 18th B-Day!!!
Here's the cake I made for my daughter's 18th's B-day
Didn't have much time to work on it, I would have liked more details especially on the tail, but at least i was able to get the shape right. People couldn't wait to eat it!!!
I had fun making it, love to sculpt with cake and butter cream frosting, it's edible art!!!
It's nice let's eat it...
10 hours of work, a few seconds and it's gone, Hahaha!!!!

Wedding cake with hummingbirds
This was so much fun to make! first the cake, a yellow cake to which I've added orange zest and juice, in between the layers there's a chocolate ganache and blackberry filling. My frosting is the Italian Meringue buttercream which I love and taste great, it's the recipe from Dede Wilson, her cakes are so wonderful, I have several of her books.
For this wedding cake I wanted to make something unique by using my sculpting skills.
Putting it all together was my reward for all the time spent on preparation, but that's the fun part, it's when it comes together!!!
I took the bottom layer to my friend's baby shower and added a little egg in the flower nest.
the cake was a big hit at the party, where the guest raved about the cake and devoured it, that's what it's all about don't you think? it's not just for looking, an edible art must fill all your senses!!!!

Valentine Cake
Wow, it's been a while since I've posted, well it's cake time again!!!
So much work goes into the preparation, before assembling, of course it's all about putting it together, I love working on the composition of the cake.
For the filling I made a chocolate truffle ganache and used frozen raspberries from my garden to make a raspberry mousse, I layered the two inside the cake.
I used Dede Wilson's excellent Italian buttercream frosting and added food coloring to make it pink.
Wish I could give you a slice!

The Troll Doll Cake
As soon as I saw her, I knew she was the one I will make the star of my next cake. Since I'm a big science fiction fan vintage style, low budget, B-movies, I was looking for some inspiration and she was it! No Barbie could play this part... So I baked several layers of cake and mixed some buttercream frosting and set to work.
This cake is part of an exercise to practice piping, the prep time took practically all day 7-8 hours and the decoration the following day, a couple of hours, in all about 10 hours. Because the doll inspired me so, it was a joy to assemble, just like when I work on one of my sculpture. I love to work with the design aspect and brainstorming the colors, when it all comes together it's magic!
I'm very pleased with this cake, I'm thinking about getting the whole line of these troll dolls to play with...

My daughther's Sweet Sixteen Cake
This month was so busy, but I still found the time to make my daughter's sixteen B-Day cake. Of course I had plan this a month ahead of time and every week did some preparation for the cake. When the day finally came to assemble the cake, I had so much fun putting it together!
Of course the guests came shortly afterwards and, well within a few hours the cake was disassembled and destroyed by me, everyone loves to eat it too.
Fortunately, I had time to take a few pictures.
The cake was a yellow cake with strawberries and cream filling, the icing was vanilla buttercream, garnished with handmade chocolate roses, fresh strawberries, chocolate shavings and handmade chocolate strawberry ganache truffles.
What will I make next? cakes are fun... another cake.
